Did you know that the financial services industry is one of the largest users of paper? This industry is heavily regulated, and while financial companies are making the transition to electronic documents, they are still required to use physical paper in certain cases. (Examples include disaster recovery, legal documentation, and redundancy.) There are also times when a physical signature is necessary. When this happens, they need a way to store and organize these papers. This translates into the need for labels.
What Goes into a Financial Label?
Financial labels are easily overlooked because we don’t naturally associate labels with this vertical. However, financial labels a profitable pocket of business. Why? Because financial labels are everywhere. These products can be anything from asset tags on a bank’s filing cabinets to color-coded labels on the files inside those cabinets. In each case, the substrate needs to match the end use since labels designed to adhere to paperboard file folders aren’t designed for metal filing cabinets.
Regardless of the application, quality matters:
- Text should be crisp and clear at any size.
- Printing must be durable and not fade.
- Labels must be strong and resistant to ripping and tearing.
- Corporate colors should match those on the client’s marketing collateral.
- Labels should use the proper adhesive so they stay put no matter the substrate.
Don’t Miss the Marketing Opportunities
This market also extends beyond identification labels. Falling into this category are other “label type” products, such as marketing and promotional clings and decals, which are great opportunities for financial services companies to get new products and services in front of their customers.
That’s why, when selling labels into this market, you should look for creative and marketing opportunities, too. Good examples are window clings commercial banks and credit unions can hang in their retail lobbies to promote new account openings or announce the latest mortgage rates.
Because financial labels are part of a company’s larger brand image, it’s important that they be of the highest quality and that their colors and overall look be consistent with the client’s other marketing materials. This is another way to cross-sell into your customer accounts. The easiest way to do this is to print all of these documents under one roof— which means more business for you.
