UL’s Marking and Labeling Systems Program (UL 969) is the standard for permanent product identification. Products requiring UL compliance must be marked with cautions, safety requirements, hazards, warnings, electrical ratings, and installation instructions. These labels must adhere throughout that product’s lifecycle.

UL labels are commonly found on electrical components, electronics (outdoor and industrial), household appliances, lighting equipment, cooking equipment, control boxes, and many other applications. They must be long-lasting, durable, and able to withstand moisture, UV, gasoline splashes, corrosive chemicals, and other harsh environmental conditions.

Wise can preprint UL-certified labels and deliver them fully functional and compliant, also known as UL’s Category Code PGDQ2. We can also produce UL’s Category Code PGJI2 labels in either combination printing or blank labels. Combination-printed UL labels are a combination of preprinted press graphics and variable information imprinted by thermal transfer. Blank UL labels are usually printed on-site at the manufacturing location. For customers who wish to print their own UL labels in-house, we can recommend and supply UL-compliant ribbons and thermal transfer printers.
